Is Reverse Therapy a form of Psychotherapy?
No. Reverse therapy is a Bodymind healing process. This means that we work with physical symptoms in order to clear the Bodymind messages that are implied by them. Unlike most forms of psychotherapy we do not work directly with 'Headmind' thoughts, dreams and memories. Nor do we consider that the symptoms people have are caused by their experiences in early life. Instead we regard symptoms as Bodymind's attempt to warn people about problems that remain unresolved in the present. Finally, unlike Cognitive-Behavioural therapy, we do not consider that negative thoughts or beliefs cause symptoms. We work instead with Bodymind's need to send symptoms to warn, guide and protect the individual.
Lastly, and unlike psychotherapy, Reverse Therapy is an educational process. We teach our clients how to notice, respond to, and reduce (or eliminate symptoms) using simple techniques. Practicing these every day restores the client to health. Although the key to recovery lies in the hands of the client we provide encouragement, teaching and support until this has been achieved.
